Parceira chinesa da Vale investirá US$ 3,3 bi no Brasil

Pequim, 10 out (Lusa) – A Baosteel, maior produtora de aço chinesa, vai investir no Brasil US$ 3,3 bilhões em parceria com a Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, anunciou nesta quarta-feira um porta-voz da empresa. “O projeto brasileiro exige um investimento de cerca de US$ 5,5 bilhões e nós prevemos investir US$ 3,3 bilhões, uma vez que detemos 60% do capital”, disse à Agência Lusa um responsável do Departamento de Negócios Internacionais da Baosteel, que pediu o anonimato por falar sem autorização superior. No passado dia 3 de outubro, no Brasil, a Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, segunda maior produtora de minério de ferro do mundo, e a Baosteel formalizaram a parceria para a criação de uma siderúrgica no Espírito Santo. A construção da unidade – Companhia Siderúrgica Vitória – deverá ter início na primeira metade de 2009 e começará a produzir 5 milhões de placas de aço para exportação a partir de 2012, segundo o acordo assinado entre a Baosteel e a Vale. Para o presidente da Vale, Roger Agnelli, o projeto da Siderúrgica Vitória exigirá um investimento de US$ 4,5 bilhões para a construção da fábrica, US$ 500 milhões para o desenvolvimento da infra-estrutura do porto de Ubu e US$ 400 milhões para desenvolver a ferrovia que servirá o porto. Atualmente, a estatal chinesa Baosteel é o quinto maior produtor de aço do mundo e tem com o objetivo quadruplicar a sua capacidade para 80 milhões de toneladas até 2012, se tornando a segunda maior empresa do setor, atrás apenas da Arcelor Mittal. A Vale tornou-se, em 2006, o maior fornecedor de minério de ferro da China, com exportações de 20,4 milhões de toneladas. Em novembro de 2006, a Vale assinou contratos com a China para uma exportação média anual de 19,4 milhões de toneladas de minério de ferro no período de 2007 a 2017, e 8,1 milhões de toneladas por ano de 2018 a 2031. No momento, a empresa brasileira exporta 100 milhões de toneladas de minério de ferro para o país asiático, quatro vezes mais do que há cinco anos.
